November 2018 has been a very busy month for the members of the AACE - Philippine Chapter. Apart from their respective Christmas preparations, members were busy with reaching out to communities through the Power of Prevention through Fitness and Nutrition program as well as organizing scientific meetings and future events.
The two-day scientific program was the 1st Continuing Medical Education Updates for the year, held at the Makati Diamond Residences in partnership with Novartis. “Exceed” was the title of the Multi-Specialty Summit. Members of AACE - Philippine Chapter as well as physicians from local communities learned about management issues in patients with type 2 diabetes. On November 24, the conference started with a series of lectures from esteemed experts from their respective fields. Dr. Maita Senandrin spoke about “Heart Failure” and Dr. Russel Villanueva discussed, “CKD Management in T2DM”. The father of Philippine Endocrinology, Dr Augusto Litonjua, shared his expertise and discussed, “Glycemic Variability in T2DM”. The lectures were concluded by a Q & A portion moderated by our AACE - Philippine Chapter Immediate Past President, Dr. Reynaldo Rosales. This was followed by the first general assembly under the leadership of current AACE President, Dr. Robert Michael Gan, wherein current and upcoming projects of AACE - Philippine Chapter were planned and discussed. The event culminated on November 25 with a lecture from Dr. James Young, who shared his expertise on the topic, “Ten years of DPP4-Inhibition”. Indeed, the two-day scientific summit EXCEEDed the expectations of the audience.
